School of Nursing and Health Sciences Corporate Advisory Board

Mission

To offer its expertise to advice and guide the School’s leadership to increase the visibility of School’s work, students, faculty, and staff and to strengthen community engagement and its educational programs.

Vision

To provide high quality health education, develop future leaders, and respond to community needs.

Charge

1. To actively participate in 1-3 meetings per year.
2. To serve as advocates for the School.
3. To bring opportunities for fundraising, educational programs, research, and community partnerships to the School’s leadership.
4. To assist with increasing the visibility of the School.

Board Members

Elizabeth (Betty) Sheridan ‘79

Betty is chair of the School of Nursing, Health, and Exercise Science Corporate Advisory Board. She is the Chief Operating Officer, Inspira Medical Center Vineland and Elmer. Betty graduated from Trenton State College in 1979. She received the TCNJ Humanitarian Award in 2014, Garden State’s Women of the Year in Healthcare in 2009/10, Nursing Spectrum’s Nursing Excellence Award for Advancing & Leading the Profession in 2009, and ONE?NJ’s Professional Recognition Award in 2008.

Donna Gage ‘81

Donna is the Chief Nursing Officer for the Veterans Health Administration. She graduated in 1981 from Trenton State College and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. Donna is a member of Penn State University’s College of Nursing Dean’s Advisory Board and Development Council Nursing Administration Quarterly Editorial Board.

John Hart ’78

John is VP of Healthcare Solutions for CONMED Corporation. He graduated in 1978 from Trenton State College and was a member of the school’s Football team. John has over 35 years of leadership experience in the medical device and life science industry with companies including Ethicon/Johnson and Johnson, CR Bard, Kimberly Clark, Us Surgical/Covidien, Stryker Orthopedics, Vidar Systems Corporation and Isto Technologies, Inc.

Sally Flanagan ‘80

Sally is a retired Education Development Specialist for the State of New Jersey serving the New Jersey Department of Health. She graduated in 1980 from Trenton State College and is President of the Health and Exercise Science Alumni Association Chapter for TCNJ. Sally has been recognized for her work and contributions in the field of public health for improving and promoting the health of the residents of the State of New Jersey.

Mary Pointer

Mary is Senior Vice President for Republic Bank and Trust and CFO of COINN (Council of International Neonatal Nurses).   A native of Oklahoma City, she began her banking career in 1977. Her two main passions are healthcare and education. Mary has received several distinguished honors and awards including a recent award from Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service. Mary is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma.

Christine Grant

Christine is the former Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Health. She has vast experience in the public and private sector including roles with Paster Merieux Connaught, a vaccine-maker based in Swiftwater, Pa, Merck & Co., and in the 1980s served as a deputy commissioner of health under former New Jersey Gov. Thomas Kean. Grant is a graduate of Swarthmore College. She holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania and a law degree from Rutgers University in Newark.

Julie Tran

Julie is currently a senior undergraduate student in the Nursing Department at TCNJ.

Matt Jensen

Matt is currently a sophomore undergraduate student in the Health and Exercise Science Department at TCNJ.
